Why US and California Taxpayers Need Help with the IRS Now More than Ever

“It looks to me like you’re purposely harming taxpayers,” Rep. Kristi Noem of South Dakota told IRS Commissioner John Koskinen at a recent hearing.  Mr. Koskinen was reporting that over 8 million calls to the IRS by US taxpayers this year went unanswered – many were simply disconnected.  It’s hard to argue when another recent report showed that cuts of $1 Billion in the IRS budget had resulted in over $5 Billion in uncollected or unenforced business tax credits.

The IRS is under fire from all sides.  Recent budget cuts combined with the unfunded responsibilities added to the IRS by congress recently have overwhelmed the agency.  This does not mean its time to try to take advantage of the IRS.  Quite the contrary.  It means they are being more aggressive than ever when it comes to IRS audits and enforcing tax collection on FBARs, business ownership, schedule C deductions and other high volume tax issues.

A business owner or individual taxpayer should never face the IRS alone.  You must hold them accountable to US tax law and standard accounting principles.  It may surprise you to learn how many IRS Revenue Agents / auditors do not have degrees in accounting.  If you have been contacted by the IRS for an audit or with questions regarding your business or personal return we invite you contact us for a free consultation at 866-631-3470.
