Interested in Volunteering to Serve the IRS?

The IRS is seeking serious and “civic-minded volunteers” to join a taxpayer advisory committee that will offer advice and recommendations for improving the IRS.  The request notes that the volunteers must be willing to commit 200 to 300 hours in the next year (that’s approximately 5 weeks of full time work). The IRS has recently been accused of poor service, significant overspending on conferences for its own management as well as politically motivated behaviors that have brought embarassment to the agency.

The Taxpayers Advisory Panel, or “TAP” is looking for US taxpaying citizens with no back tax debts.  You must also undergo and pass an FBI background check.  Citizens from California are invited to apply at http://www.USAjobs.gov, and can get more information about the process at http://www.improveIRS.org.
